Alice Mabel Emery birth announcement

Alice Mabel Emery was the second child born to Abigail (Williams) and Fred J Emery.  She was born in Washington, Washington county, Iowa on November 23, 1889.  The birth announcement was published in the Washington Press, Page 3 on November 27, 1889. 

The announcement is highlighted in the sixth column midway down the page.     Previous entries I have posted regarding Alice may have stated the incorrect date of birth.  Her death certificate listed November 27, 1889 as the date of birth.    Both this newspaper announcement of her birth as well as her passport application confirm she was born on November 23, 1889.

Frank Raymond Emery birth announcement

Frank Raymond Emery was the third and final child born to Abigail (Williams) and Fred J Emery.  He was born in Washington, Washington county, Iowa on October 31, 1891.

The birth announcement was published in the Washington Gazette, Page 3 on November 6, 1891.  The announcement is highlighted in the third column toward the bottom of the page. 

For unknown reasons, Frank was later left at an orphanage following the divorce of his parents.   His older brother Fred and sister Alice moved with their mother to Chicago.

Louise Mary Daniels - birth certificate and register

Here is the birth certificate for my grandmother, Louise Mary Daniels, born April 19, 1914 to Mabel (Cass) and Fred Daniels in Chicago, Illinois.

The family was living at 4647 Winthrop Avenue,  a block south of where they would eventually build the Daniels Apartment Hotel.

Cook County, Illinois also had a birth register.   Louise is listed as number 4024 on page 1 of the register, along with the birth location and age of the father and mother.

Page 2 of the register lists the mother's maiden name, the father's name and profession.  The last column is the name of the doctor.
