1850 US Census - Amelia (Emery) Standard

Olive (Butler) and Henry Emery's second child, Amelia (Emery) Standard and husband John were living in Joshua, Fulton county, Illinois with their two children Evelyn (the census taker transposed the 'n' and 'y' and spelled her name 'Evelany' - it is important to realize there are MANY errors in the census records) and Olive during the 1850 US Census.

The rest of Olive and Henry's children were included in the 1850 census previously posted.

1850 US Non-Population Census

Here is the 1850 US Non-Population Land Census for my 4th great grandfather, Henry Emery (#14 from the bottom) for his property in Joshua, Fulton County, Illinois.

This is where Henry and first wife Olive (Jacobs) had lived until they moved to Weller township, Henry County, Illinois in April 1856.

1850 US Census - Sarah Dwire

Here is the 1850 US Census for my great great great grandmother, Sarah Dwire.   I've seen the spelling as Dwyer and Dwire so I wanted to see if I could confirm the correct spelling.

I also located land grants that Sarah's father, Ellis, purchased in Illinois for Fulton, Peoria and Stark counties on November 3, 1840 which also use the Dwire spelling.

The only census I've come across that used a "y" appears to be the 1860 US Census.  While there are errors on birth year as well as other spelling errors, it seems the correct spelling IS "Dwire".

1850 US Census - David Emery

Here is the 1850 US Census for my great great great great great grandparents, Edith (Fisher) and David Emery, living in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois.

The Emery's were living at the household their son David Fisher Emery, and his wife Catherine*.    Also living in the home were David and Catherine's children, John, Mary, Cyrus and Edith.

*David Fisher Emery was the younger brother of my great great great great grandfather Henry Emery.

1850 US Census - Henry Emery, David W Emery

Here is the 1850 US Census for my great great great great grandparents, Olive (Jacobs) and Henry  Emery.    They were living in Joshua, Fulton County, Illinois with their children, David (my great great great grandfather), James, Elizabeth, John, Edith (Caroline), Sarah, William, Jason and Catherine.

Their two eldest daughters, Mary and Amelia had married and had moved away with their husbands.

This is the last US Census for my great great great grandfather as a single man.     In either 1852 or 1853 he would marry my great great great grandmother, Sarah Dwire (or Dwyer).

This census was also an improvement over previous census records as it included the names of all of the members of the household, their ages as well as the state of their birth.
