1900 US Census - Clark Emery

Here is the 1900 US Census for Clark Emery, son of Sarah (Dwire) and David W Emery.

Clark was living in Ottumwa, Center township, Wapello county, Iowa with wife Ella and their children Burt and Alice.

Last year, I had posted the rest of the surviving children of Sarah and David Emery,  Fred J Emery (my great great grandfather), Clyde and Ben living with their parents, as well as Charles living a few homes away, Bert and finally, the youngest of their children, Georgia Peck.

1900 US Census - Catherine (Emery) Kelly

I recently located the 1900 US Census for Catherine Kelly, daughter of Olive (Jacobs) and Henry Emery.

Catherine was living in Weller township, Henry county, Illinois with husband William and their children, Eugene, Wilber, Mary, David, Wendell and Edith.

1900 US Census - James H Emery

Here is the 1900 US Census for James H Emery, son of Olive (Jacobs) and Henry Emery.

James was living in Blandinsville, McDonough county, Illinois with wife Rhoda and sons Otto and Roscoe.

Last year I had posted the census for my great great great grandparents, Sarah (Dwire) and David W Emery. 

I've not been able to locate a census for Olive and Henry's daughter, Sarah Ferman.    Sarah passed away in Blandinsville two years after the 1900 Census but having looked through the entire census for that village, she and her family appear to have been missed.

1900 US Census - Elizabeth (Emery) Butler

Here is the 1900 US Census for Elizabeth Butler, the daughter of Olive (Jacobs) and Henry Emery.

Elizabeth was living in Highland township, Wapello county, Iowa with husband Abia Cline.

1900 US Census - William P Emery

Here is the 1900 US Census for William P Emery, the son of Olive (Jacobs) and Henry Emery.

William was living in Highland township, Wapello county, Iowa with wife Margaret and their children, Robb, Arlo, Cordia and Harry.

1900 US Census - Phoebe Amanda Emery

Here is the 1900 US Census for Olive (Jacobs) and Henry Emery's daughter-in-law, Phoebe Amanda (Husted) Emery.

























Phoebe was married to John Fisher Emery though I do not know where he was living during the 1900 US Census.    Phoebe was living in Gillam Precinct, Dawson county, Nebraska at the home of her daughter, Ida McLaughlin, son-in-law, William and granddaughter, Cecil.

1900 US Census - Jason Rust Emery

Here is the 1900 US Census for Jason Rust Emery, the son of Olive (Jacobs) and Henry Emery.

Jason was living in Benton township, Keokuk county, Iowa with wife Amanda and their children, Eva, Floyd, Jennie, Roy, Ethel and Glen.

1900 US Census - Georgia Peck

Here is the 1900 US census for Georgia (Emery) Peck, the youngest child of my great great great grandparents, Sarah (Dwire or Dwyer) and David W Emery.

Georgia was living in Ottumwa, Iowa with her husband, Burchard Peck who was employed as a day laborer.

1900 US Census - David W Emery & Charles Emery

Here is the 1900 US census for my great great great parents, Sarah (Dwier or Dwyer) and David W Emery living with two of their children, Clyde and Ben in Ottumwa, Iowa.

The census has David's incorrect birth information, he was born September 13, 1930, not September 1870.

This was the one census that indicated Sarah and David had 11 children, 6 of which were still alive in 1900.    The book "Conrad Emery and His Descendants" written by Frederic B. Emery only listed 8 of their children.    I have figured out 10 of the 11, but haven't been able to locate the name of the 11th, unless it is a census error.

Further down the record is David and Sarah's eldest son, Charles and his wife Etta (Rowe) and their three children, Fred Clarence, Roy and Ethel Mae.    Like his father, Charles was a carpenter employed as a cabinet maker.

1900 US Census - Bert Emery

I've not been able to locate the 1910 US census for Bert Emery, but here is his 1900 census.

Bert was living with his second wife, Margaret (McDowell) in Ottumwa, Iowa.   Bert was working as a carriage trimmer, like his older brother (my great great grandfather) Fred J Emery.

As far as I know, Bert never had children; if he did with his first wife, Mary (Cresak) they never lived with him following Mary's death.

1900 US Census - Frank Emery

I was successful in finding the descendants of my great grandfather, Fred Emery's younger brother, Frank, who I thought may have died as an infant.   

I had come across Frank's name on the 1900 and 1910 US census, but I wasn't 100% sure it was the same person and didn't know why he was living in a household with so many different last names.   I spoke with Frank's granddaughter this week who informed me that he had grown up in an orphanage.

Here is the 1900 US census for the third child born to Abigail (Williams) and Fred J Emery.

Frank is listed as a boarder (8th from the bottom) living in Mitchellville, Polk County, Iowa.    Frank was only 8 years old at the time the census was taken.

No one knows why Frank was left behind while his brother and sister went to live with their mother in Chicago after their parents divorced.     Unfortunately Frank's children never lived to find out their father had a brother and sister.

1900 US Census - Fred J Emery

My great great grandfather, Fred J Emery had moved from Washington County, Iowa to Marshalltown, Iowa sometime prior to the 1900 US Census.

By the time of the 1900 US census, Fred was living with his second wife, May (Morrell) and step-son, Leo O'Kill.

Fred was employed as a "carriage trimmer", which I imagine he fell into as a result of his father, David W Emery,  having been a carpenter.

1900 US Census - Abigail Daniels

Here is the 1900 US Census for my great great grandmother Abigail, her second husband, Wilson O. Daniels, a boarder named Leonard Hall, Abigail's mother Elizabeth and two of Abigail's children, Alice Mabel and my great grandfather, Fred Daniels.

The family was living in Chicago in a community called Lake.     

The census taker must have thought Wilson's middle initial "O" was part of his last name, however, his last name was Daniels.

Wilson was employed as a foreman in a stable.

This census fails to account for Abigail's youngest son, Frank, as it only indicates Abigail had 2 children, which leads me to believe Frank passed away as an infant, probably in Washington, Iowa.
